The MyProtektor platform (encompassing the mobile application and website) is made available strictly for informational and operational purposes. Although we provide functionality for incident reporting, GPS tracking, panic alerts, and coordination between users and third-party security providers, the information presented through the platform may be incomplete, unverified, or subject to delay.
2. No Emergency Services Provided
MyProtektor does not replace or act as an emergency service. We have no affiliation with SAPS, EMS, or any government emergency authority, and we do not directly dispatch emergency response personnel.
In situations of immediate threat or danger, please contact your nearest police station or emergency services directly.
3. User-Generated Content & Incident Data
Certain information visible on the platform — such as incident reports, panic alerts, and map-based activity — originates from end users (including civilians and private security operatives). Such content:
- Is not subject to real-time verification or moderation
- Could be inaccurate, incomplete, or no longer current
- Must not be treated as the sole basis for safety-critical or emergency decisions
Each user bears full responsibility for how they interpret and act upon information obtained through the platform.
4. Third-Party Services & Providers
MyProtektor incorporates third-party technologies and integrations, among them:
- Firebase (backend hosting, analytics, crash reporting)
- Google Maps and GPS tools (for routing and location)
- Payment processors like Paystack and Google Play Billing
- Independent security companies and responders (who operate under their own terms)
We neither control nor guarantee the availability, timeliness, or dependability of these third-party services. MyProtektor accepts no liability for:
- Delays or failures in responding to reported incidents
- Shortcomings in service delivery by affiliated security firms
- Errors, outages, or disruptions attributable to external service providers
5. Platform Limitations
No warranty is provided that:
- All information or services will be accurate, current, or free from error
- The platform will maintain uninterrupted availability across all devices
- Tracking, mapping, or alerting features will operate without latency or interruption
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed under applicable law:
- MyProtektor shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of life, bodily injury, financial loss, or reputational harm arising from:
- Dependence on data provided through the application
- Acts or omissions of third-party security responders
- Software errors, system failures, or service outages
- Network connectivity problems or device incompatibility
- Our aggregate liability is capped at the total amount the user has paid for the service during the preceding 3 months, where applicable.
7. Jurisdiction
This Disclaimer shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Users who access the platform from within South Africa consent to the exclusive application of South African law for any dispute connected to their use of the platform.
